Instead of just saying it

Out loud all along

I called it patience

I called it trust

But silence grows heavy

When you leave too much

You to see

What I never showed

I let things slide

So nothing would start

I chose the calm

Over being honest

Now I’m standing here

With all this distance

Built out of words

I never said

There’s a difference

Between being strong

And slowly disappearing

Just to get along
