Everybody says I’m strong
Like I should know where I belong
But strength just means I learned to hide
Everything I feel inside
I’m the one they run to first
Helping heal what other people hurt
The teacher I needed back then
Trying to save lost kids again
And I give my heart away
More and more each passing day
Till there’s barely anything of me
Left for me to even keep
Maybe that’s why
Nothing feels right
No matter what I do
I still lose every fight
Cause I live two lives
One where I smile and say I’m alright
And one where I’m drowning in secrets every night
And honestly it scares me
How alive the chaos feels
Sometimes disappearing
From the stress and all the healing
Feels like the only thing that’s real
But this life’s unsustainable
I know one day I’ll have to choose
Between the girl they think I am
And the truth I always lose
People swear they’ll never leave
Then become my worst memory
Every promise slowly fades
Like love was only temporary
Now every “I would never hurt you”
Feels rehearsed and never true
Cause somehow every hand I trust
Turns my heart to dust
I hate confrontation
So I bite my tongue and wait
Saying “it’s okay”
Even when it isn’t anyway
And I pour oceans into hearts
That hand me droplets from the start
Everybody comes to me for light
While I cry alone at night
I’m scared I’ll settle
Scared I’ll choose wrong
Scared I’ll wake up one day
And wonder where I belong
Still I tell myself somehow
Everything happens for a reason now
Cause if all this pain means nothing too
Then what am I supposed to do?
Cause I live two lives
Trying to survive both at the same time
One where I save everybody else
And one where I’m losing my mind
But maybe being soft
In a world that’s grown so cold
Doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with me
Maybe my heart just loves too bold.
