Once upon a time,
There was a princess,
Locked in a tower
Waiting for her prince to come
A knight in shining armor
There was a dragon
At the base of the tower
The king and queen
Saying it was to protect her,
They said they loved her
And sent her away,
And Locked her in a cage.
This was the tower,
With the dragon.
Where many screams were heard
Knights from all over
Tried to rise to the challenge
Only to end up
Being slain by the dragon
The sun would rise and fall
And many moons would pass
The princess in the tower
Cried over and over
Wondering how long the nightmare
Would last
Echoing, echoing, their screams
Rang throughout the tower.
When would she be able to rest
At the mercy of the dragon,
Would she ever be free?
From this tower,
From those who locked her away,
Saying they loved her,
But forced her to obey,
Waiting for a man,
Who only yearned for her in his bed.
Why should she wait?
She cried endlessly
For days, for nights,
The dragon did it ever rest?
When would she be free?
Is it worth it?
To keep waiting?
But what else could she do?
The window was barred,
And her door locked away.
Even if the dragon were slain...
Who would have the key?
Would the knight even find it?
It's been so long
After all this time,
Who could remember a princess
Who was locked away
Ever since she was a babe.
Many men were slain,
The scent of blood and iron
Slowly made it's way to her room.
But no sounds were ever heard.
The princess, no longer a child
Her hopelessness grew
How long must a dragon
Keep her locked away?
Why had her parents
Sent her into a cage
They said they loved her
But they want me to rot away
Inside this cage?
If I am to die,
then let me die free.
She tried to break down the door,
With all her might she tried,
But it never seemed to budge
There were no dents,
Falling to her knees she cried.
The dragon,
Feeling her sorrow
Questioned his actions
Wondering why does she wait
There are only weaklings
Who come to the tower
Would she ever be free?
Those fools who deluded themselves
Thinking they could protect her.
The dragon closed its eyes
If she must die,
Then perhaps I will die by her side.
The dragon chose to set her free.
And the tower, slowly crumbled,
All that was left,
was stone.
