Prompt / Lyrics
At Jacob’s well beneath the sun, The weary day was nearly done. A woman came with jar in hand, Not knowing grace was close at hand. He asked for water, calm and kind, Surprising words that stirred her mind. For Jew and Samaritan seldom spoke, Yet living truth within him woke. Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. She questioned him, “What could you mean? You’ve nothing drawn from what is seen.” He smiled and said, “One drink from me, Will quench your thirst eternally.” Her heart began to slowly turn, For deeper things she came to learn. The life she’d lived was known to him, Yet mercy shone though past was dim. Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. She ran to tell her townsfolk near, “Come see the one who knows me clear! Could this be Christ, the promised One? The Savior God has surely sent, the Son!” They came to hear his words of peace, And found their doubts began to cease. Two days he taught, their hearts grew sure, His truth was living, clean, and pure. Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. Now all the ages hear his plea, “Come drink this water, full and free. Not from a well that fades away, But from the spring that lives each day.” No wall divides, no hate remains, Where love eternal graciously reigns. His water flows through hearts restored, To quench all thirst and love our Lord. Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. The gift he gives no coin can buy, For heaven’s streams will never dry. The poor, the hurt, the lost, the small— Are welcomed by his loving call. So at his well, the Word is clear, The voice of hope draws all who hear. Come drink, believe, your soul be found, Where life’s pure waters still abound. Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. The Savior waits by every heart, To give new life, a gracious start. Come taste the peace no world can bring, And lift your soul to God and sing! Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. Come, if you thirst, and take your fill, The Savior’s promise stands true still. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace. Flowing from the throne of grace, Eternal life in His embrace.
