Fallen

Heart shattered, glass on the floor,

Echoes scream louder than the slamming door.

Another hero gone, capes torn at the seams,

Reality bites harder than the wildest dreams.

Did the sky even blink when the wings got clipped?

Or does the world keep spinning, hollow and ripped?

Crumbling statues, dust in the wind,

No cheers, just silence, where to begin?

Another hero falls, does the world even see?

A light snuffed out, now it’s just dark

Do they cry, or do they scream, do they care in the end?

Or is it just another story, never to mend?

Roses wilt faster when no one’s around,

Petals hit the pavement, don’t make a sound.

Sacrifice echoes, but the void still swallows,

A path once blazed now dark, no tomorrow.

The weight of the cape, too heavy to bear,

A heart that gave it’s all, is now gasping for air.

Do they mourn in whispers, or forget in haste?

A hero’s essence wasted, left with a bitter taste.
