Illusion

We are like rats in a golden labyrinth,

> Everyone is pushing, everyone wants more.

> Envy drives us, we are blind and deaf,

> In this maze of consumerism, we are just lost.

> Referendums are our elections, the illusion of freedom,

> While the system pushes us into endless work.

> We dream of villas, cars and wealth,

> We forget what is really important in life.

> Like ants we drag the load,

> Of the material world that destroys us.

> Envy poisons us, turns our hearts to stone,

> In the race for gold, we are just victims of the system.

> We run, we run, but where?

> The goal still distant, like a mirage.

> Envy drives us, we are blind and deaf,

> In this maze of consumerism, we are just lost.

> Social networks, advertising, tempting promises,

> It creates a trap from which there is no escape.

> We look for happiness in things that have no value,

> We forget about love, friendship and family.

> When do we stop and ask ourselves?

> What is really important in this life?

> Is it just wealth accumulation or something more?
