Hummingbirds

You’d watch over me after school

Made sure I was happy and fed

PBS on the old tv

Garden supplies in the shed

Family photos on the walls

Vanilla ice cream with sprinkles

I’d stare at the gem on

Your hand full of wrinkles

Hummingbirds fly on by

The lil’ house in the countryside

They buzz around like fairies

In the endless sapphire sky

Hummingbirds, they make me think of all

The ones who loved me dearly

From the summer to the fall

I wish so much that I

Could talk to you again

I’d hold onto a hug
