I was burning bright, heart alive,

A fire You lit in me.

Every breath was a hallelujah,

Every step felt free.

But somewhere down the road I wandered,

My hands reached for the night—

I knew the truth, still I faltered,

Now I’m scared to face the light.

How do I come back, when I chose to turn?

How do I believe, when I know what I deserve?

But I’ll run to You again,

With my trembling heart and shame.

Though I’ve taken all Your mercy

Like it’s just another name.

Still You call me Yours,

I broke Your heart and came back crawling,

I say I love You—then I choose the dark,

And wonder why I’m numb.

But You never closed the door,

You still whisper, "Come."

I should be punished, I should be lost,

But You still offer love that covers the cost.

So I’ll run to You again,

Though I’m drowning in regret.

You're the only place that still feels safe,
