Cooler in the back

Tailgate hangin half off

Dust devils on that red dirt road

Laugh lines deeper than the ruts we drove

They hop out

Cutoffs, boots and tan lines loud

Mud on their thighs, hair tied high

Sling a little water, hit me in the eye

Four by four, mud on the doors

Girls in bikinis yellin “give it some more”

Sunburned shoulders, beer cans clinkin

Radio up and the whole creek shakin

Four by four, hearts off-road

Spinnin those tires where the corn don’t grow

If this is wrong, I ain’t leavin here

4x4 mud girls drinkin beer

One got a trucker hat

Turned backward, callin me slow

Another got my flannel on

Sayin “boy, let’s see that rooster crow”

They climb up

Tailgate jump, that cooler thump

Foam on their lips, hips in the air

Singin off-key, but I don’t care

[low vocal register] Sun goin down, but we ain’t done

Headlights paint the trees, we run

She draws her name on my fogged-up glass

Says “remember this when the summer’s passed” [crescendo]

They’re shoutin “one more lap”

I mash that gas, mud rains back
