Did you lose anything?

Penelope asked the man beside her

Was today a day worth a million smiles

The man looked down and faced her directly

And scoffed in her face and walked away

She wasn't mad nor was she glad

As an answer was not given

Instead just a reaction

Without any clarification

The question was asked to everyone in town

The answers received were nothing outstanding

She walked and walked, from the suburbs to the town center

And yet still she wasn't satisfied with every answers given

Penelope asked the dog beside her

Was today a day worth a million smiles

The dog looked up and wagged its tail

And barked in her face and walked away

She was beaming so brightly

As an answer was finally given

That made her finally decide

To "write" the town in her diary

She opened her diary

And conjure up a quill

Then began writing the names of the ones

Whose answers were not enough

To survive her thoughts

Then the town began to crumble

As everyone began to decay

And the buildings torn apart

And roads were undone

And now all that's left

Was a stray dog in the park
