Reflections of Disdain

I've sung my songs, through thick and thin,

Now it’s time to let this story spin.

A mirror held to a broken face,

Faced with the truth we can't erase.

I walked the line with steady stride,

Now I watch our hopes collide.

Promises echo in the void,

Fake smiles and words I've toyed.

Oh, they tell us what to believe,

Dress it up, make us deceive.

But I see through the glass unclear,

The truth's too bold, and I fear.

I’ve done it my way, or so I thought,

Now I question all I was taught.

Standing here, with pride and disdain,

Watching the puppets dance in vain.

Legacies built on restless lies,

Truth buried beneath the guise.

Cornered by the power games,

Lost in the echo of their claims.

Can we still find some real truth,

Or are we lost in the booth?

Drowning out the silent cry,

Underneath the stormy sky.

I’ve done it my way, or so I thought,

Now I question all I was taught.

Standing here, with pride and disdain,

Watching the puppets dance in vain.

Maybe it’s time to stand alone,

Rewrite the script, claim our own.

A voice for those who’ve been shut out,

To break the chains and cast doubt.

So I sing my song, with bitter grace,

A reflection of this fallen place.

Still I hope, despite the fray,

We find our dawn, make a new way.
