Shadows in the Rain

Heart heavy, veins filled with lead,

Demons tap-dance on the edge of my head.

Cigarette smoke curling into a halo,

Wishing for light, but the sky stay gray though.

Raindrops kissing my skin, feel the sting,

Echoes in the alley where the lost souls sing.

Heartbeats slow like a clock on pause,

Drowning in the shadows, I embrace my flaws.

Nightmares creeping, they don't knock no more,

Whispers in the dark like they own the floor.

Mirror reflection, I don’t know who that is,

Eyes red raw from the tears I dismiss.

City lights blink like they're mocking my pain,

Concrete jungle got me chained in the rain.

Every breath heavy like a cinderblock drag,

Hope in my chest just a torn-up flag.
