I climbed the ladder step by step

My hands were raw my soul bereft

The work was hard but I stood tall

I gave my all I gave it all

Then I slipped and hit the ground

Your words were soft

But the echo loud

You said rest

But when I healed and I came back

The door was locked

The world turned black

You smiled like a friend

Wore a clever mask

Promised me my future
