[Guitar Solo]
[Intro]
This is my story and how the lord saved my life, more than twice and now I finally know why.
[Verse]
Growing up no one knew my name. Like a ghost was i was never the same.
Just trying to fit in, trying hard just to blend.
Always knew I was just a little bit different.
Mind bent in ways it wasn’t intended.
Yet here I stand all full in his glory, never felt worthy now here is my story.
[Chorus]
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Said please don’t take too long.
[Verse]
Got out of school and didn’t stay long enough.
Couldn’t wait to grow up and start my own life.
Was just kid that thought himself a man.
Had my own kids, a wife and a plan.
Didn’t know how to take the pressure. Became unstable, pained and too much pressure with not enough play and no pleasure. It blew up a scale with no measure.
[Bridge]
Still I never gave up, on my knees I’d struggle and cuss.
Still I believed i had to try when enough wasn’t enough.
[Chorus]
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
Please believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
Please believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
[Verse]
Got locked up for doing people wrong, was a damned drunken fool and was left all alone.
Many nights spent in a darkened black out. No memories of what happened just shackled and bound.
Payed the heavy price for the sins I committed, but I prayed and even though I didn’t want to admit it.
I needed help from above and not me, I thank God he heard me and then I heard him say…
[Chorus]
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
[Violin Solo]
[Outro]
He pulled from beyond my grave, to stand me on my own two feet. Have a home, wife, kids and a life. I could only thank God for the price. Where I’m at is because of his grace, now I’m proud and it’s all by his grace. I feel the struggle I once had is gone. This is my story and why I belong.
[Final Chorus]
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
Please Lord believe me. Didn’t do this on my own.
The good Lord was looking out.
Showed me where I belong.
