You Gave Me Life

I was a wretch lost in my own ways,

Blind to the weight of my sin.

My heart was as stone, my mind was dark,

I wanted nothing to do with You.

But in Your mercy, You called my name,

You opened my eyes to see,

You gave me a new heart to believe.

Jesus, You gave me life when I was dead,

You poured out grace I could never deserve.

You took my guilt, You bore my shame,

You died the death that was mine to pay,

Now I stand forgiven and free.

My hands were stained, my soul was corrupt,

I ran from You, but You pursued me.

Your Spirit breathed, my heart awoke,

You made me alive in Christ.

Not by my works, not by my will,

But by the power of Your love,

You gave me faith, You gave me hope.

I could never repay this debt,

So I will praise You all my days.

Thank You for Your life, thank you for Your death,

Thank You for the blood You shed,

Thank You, Jesus, for saving me,

Thank You, Jesus, for saving… me!
