In the shadows, under the light,

There's a battle that rages, just out of sight.

Whispers of doubt creep in slow and sly,

It’s a thief in the night, it won't let me fly.

Every morning, I wake with a weight,

A heavy chain that won’t break; it’s fate.

Thoughts looping round, like a record on spin,

Trying to find the calm, but chaos creeps in.

Every effort I make, it just feels so clogged.

Racing heartbeats keep me trapped in this rhyme.

Trying to break free, reclaim back control.

Friends say "breathe, it’s all in your mind,"

But they don’t know the shackles, the binds I can’t find.

Every smile feels plastic—hiding the fear,

I count down the minutes, wait for the calm,

A battle of will wrapped in a soothing balm.
