Commandments

Ten lines etched in stone, a mountain"s mighty call,
A whisper through the ages, standing strong and tall.
"No other gods before me," the first command rings true,
A single Lord, a faithful heart, in all that we pursue.

"No idols carved or fashioned," the second voice proclaims,
No earthly things to worship, no false and empty flames.

"No false witness against neighbor," the ninth command"s decree,
To speak the truth with kindness, for all the world to see.

"No coveting your neighbor"s goods," the tenth, a gentle guide,
To find contentment in our lot, with humble, thankful stride.
These ten commandments given, a covenant so grand,
A roadmap to salvation, held within God"s hand.
