A drift beyond

The engines pulse, a quiet hymn,  
Earth shrinks beneath the cosmic rim,  
A speck of blue, a fading gleam,  
Dissolving into night’s vast dream.  

We left, the few, on wings of steel,  
Through endless dark, no shore to feel,  
The void unfurls, a boundless sea,  
A weightless lost eternity.  

Past Jupiter’s swirl, past Saturn’s glow,  
Its rings a halo, cold and slow,  
I peer through glass, the stars ignite,  
A million fires pierce the night.  

Earth dwindles there, a distant mote,  
A memory adrift, remote,  
No tether holds, no compass guides,  
Just silence where my soul resides.  

The stars ahead, they call, they burn,  
A path unknown at every turn,  
Yet in their light, I find no place,  
A stranger lost in boundless space.  

No home remains, no map to chart,  
The void consumes my wandering heart,  
The galaxy spins, vast and grand,  
But slips like dust through trembling hands.  

I drift, I seek, through stellar tides,  
A purpose where the dark abides,  
The stars ahead, so bright, so far,  
A question whispered: who we are.
