Nightmares Haunt

He walks through the dust, a soldier’s old scar,

Fought for his country, left his dreams in the war,

But when he comes home, they turn away,

Treat him like dirt, forget him each day.

Nightmares haunt him, shadows in his mind,

Car backfires loud, he jumps in fright,

Silent struggles, a battle inside,

Honor and respect, answer the call,
