From a soldier's eyes...

I walked through the gates of hell,

The smell of charred flesh and the sound of last breaths, I watched my closest friends meet death. I can't unsee it, and I've done things I cannot tell.

When the firefight's over and the day is through

I remember my family and friends,

And I know I won't see them anytime soon.

My brothers in arms die in my arms,

And the bullet in my leg hurts less than my heart.

Kill your emotions, morals, and freedoms.

Destroy your body, rebuild it to please 'em.

Stand there, get yelled at,

Doesn't matter whose fault.

Stand in formation and wait to be called.

Kill your desire, mentality, replaced by brutality.

Destroy other people doing the exact same thing. Destroying other people I've never seen.

Pulling a trigger on a person with a family.

Just like me, they're just like me.

I fought for my country, and they fought for theirs. I watched my brothers die, some bled out in my arms. Those with God make their prayers, but the gun doesn't care, the gun doesn't care, no.
