Some days I get up and I feel alright

Other days I just stay in bed and fight

My body feels heavy, my heart feels sore

But I still put my feet down on that floor

I make the kids breakfast, try to smile

Say I’m okay — at least for a while

But the truth is hard, and it wears me thin

And I hate that I keep breaking again

Trying my best, even when it’s less

But I still show up with all that it takes

For pulling away, for needing a crutch
