Under His Wings

Shadows creep, midnight cold as a tomb

Dwelling in the secret place, I find my room

Refuge carved in rock, no fear, no doom

Feathers spread wide, covering my womb

Pestilence stalks, arrows fly by noon

Warriors fall ten thousand, I’m immune

Lion prowls hungry, snake in full bloom

Under His wings, no space for the gloom

Under His wings, I’m safe, I’m free

Fortress, my God, He watches me

Arrows may come, storms may be

But I’m under His wings, eternally

Angels on the payroll, sent to protect

Orders straight from heaven, I’m the architect

Dash my foot on a stone? Nah, intercept

God’s Word sharper than the blade you suspect

Trap set for me? It’s the hunter who wept

Enemies stumble, their plans inept

He lifts me high, I’m His chosen elect

Call on His name, His love’s perfect effect

Tread on the lion, serpent beneath

Walk through the valley, sword in the sheath

He calls me His own, grants me peace

Life everlasting, His blessings increase
