My father

He was 9 years old when his daddy died

Not knowing what to do or how to provide

he had to learn fast how to live and how to survive

At the end of the depression

But at 9 years old he had to step up and to become a man

He never had a chance to experience what it was to be a child

He had three baby sisters and two older brothers with families of their own

From the pain of losing his father he became a man that many looked up to

there wasn't nothing he couldn't do when he put his mind to it

with an eighth grade education his success was overwhelming

And his faith in God and wisdom was unbelievable

That 9-year-old boy later became a father and mentor to many

guiding me through life

he may be gone but he's always in my heart

I just hope I can become half the man he was
