They saw where I was…

But they didn’t see where God was taking me.

I came from the bottom with my back to the wall,

Had some nights I felt like I was losing it all,

People disappeared when they watched me fall,

But I heard God’s voice when I answered the call.

Walked through the darkness, couldn’t see no light,

Had to keep believing through the longest nights,

Devil kept swinging, I was fighting for life,

But God kept telling me, “Son, you gon’ be alright.”

Now I move different, got a purpose in me,

All those closed doors were protecting my destiny,

Every scar on my body got a story to speak,

I learned God gets the glory when you’re down on your knees.

They can talk about the old me, I don’t live there no more,

God gave me the strength just to walk through the door,

Thought I was finished—I was built for the war,

When He lifted me up, I came back wanting more.

I remember them days I was praying for change,

Trying to find peace while I’m carrying pain,

Now I look at my life and I’m praising His name,

’Cause the man that I was and the man now ain’t the same.

Had storms in my life, had the rain come down,

Had people walk away when nobody was around,

But the King stayed close when I fell to the ground,

Now every time I speak, I’m gon’ give Him the crown.

This ain’t luck, homie, this is grace on me,

God broke every chain that was placed on me,

I was walking half-blind, now my faith can see,

What the enemy meant for harm made a way for me.

So I’m standing ten toes with my hands to the sky,

I survived every season they thought I would die,

It was God that picked me up every time that I cried.

I’ve been down…

But look at me now.

Every tear had a purpose,

God helped me stand.

So when you see me winning, know the road wasn’t easy,

I had nights full of pain when nobody could see me,

But I held onto God when the world didn’t need me,

Now I’m walking in purpose—ain’t no devil gon’ defeat me.

Chosen for a reason, I believe that for real,

You can’t fake these scars, you can’t fake how they heal,

I ain’t preaching perfection, I’m just telling you still—

When the whole world gives up, God never will.

That last line — “When the whole world gives up, God never will” — would hit especially hard right before that choir chorus comes back in.
