Discouraged

I think the devil’s on my path

He’s catching up to me so fast

Trying to whisper in my ear

So he can play upon my fears

I think the devil’s on my trail

He’s telling me I’m bound for Hell

Reminding me of all I’ve done

And putting me under the gun

I think the devil’s on my back

He’s always ready to attack

I feel his breath upon my neck

Trying to make my life a wreck

I fall down upon my knees

And lift my face up to the sky

I call on your holy name

And you reach down from up on high

You always help me find my strength

And in you I find the courage

To cast aside my shameful past

You won’t let me be discouraged

You saved me from the devil’s wrath

And shine a light unto my path

Showing me mercy and sweet grace

All of my sins have been erased

And I need thee every hour

Through your blood I have the power

I have to thank the Lord above

For you Jesus and for your love
