Childhood days

I remember them long cold winter nights

I'd come down in the mornings daddy would be feeding the fire

He'd put on a pot of coffee and light a cigarette

These are the good ole days I will never forget

They say kids these days

Really have it made

With their iPhones iPods and video games

But I say no way

We're the ones who really had it made

Cuz I still remember my childhood days

Momma cooking in the kitchen

Her famous meatloaf and all the fixings

She'd tell us to get outside and play

You ain't sitting in the house watching TV all day

So we'd go splash around in the muddy creek

Climb up that big oak tree

Ride our bikes up and down the road

They say kids these days really have it made

We would run in and out of the barn

Play freeze tag in the front yard

Play hide and seek in the dark

Catch lightning bugs in the back yard
