Home of the Dreadwolf
Verse I
Where the stone meets frozen tide
And the North learns how to breathe,
There stands a hall the storms respect
And the fire will not leave.
Built of rock and older vows
Than crowns or dragonfire,
They say the land itself stood still
When Welyr first lit the pyre.
Refrain
Oh remember this, remember well,
When the world turns sharp and dire—
Welyr does not bow to flame,
The flame is sworn to Welyr.
Verse II
Wolves were carved above the gate,
Not snarling—standing fast,
Eyes not fixed on conquest won
But on winters yet to pass.
For strength here wasn’t proven loud,
Nor paid in borrowed gold,
It was earned by those who stayed behind
When fear had turned men cold.
Refrain
So sing it soft and sing it true,
By candle, storm, or pyre—
Welyr keeps what others burn,
The flame endures in fire.
Verse III
Dragons came with ash and awe,
And left their marks in stone,
But even they learned caution here—
This ground was not alone.
For fire was welcomed, not obeyed,
And steel was taught its place,
Bound to hands that understood
Both mercy
And the blade.
Refrain
Oh remember this, remember clear,
When banners fall or fly—
Welyr does not chase the world,
The world comes passing by.
Verse IV
From these walls the Dreadwolf rose,
Not forged by hate or crown,
But by knowing when to stand his ground
And when to burn it down.
He was not the first, nor last,
Just the one the songs recall—
Because Welyr does not make kings…
It makes
What follows when kings fall.
Final Refrain
So teach your sons and daughters this
When winter tests their fire:
Home is not the place you flee—
It’s where you choose to stand entire.
And if the night comes clawing back,
With teeth of fear and pyre,
Remember where the wolves still wait—
At home.
At Welyr.
Where the flame endures.
Outro (soft, communal)
Stone remembers.
Fire listens.
Wolves return.
