My Troubling Childhood Marked by Conflict, Accusations, and Personal Struggles:
Today, 26 June 20025, I am 50 days sober.
And, I am 46 years old.
And, here is my story:
In Jamaica (My Early Childhood):
1) At age 3 in Jamaica, I recall my parents fighting while my younger, baby sister Stacy and I were in the same room in a cot nearby, my earliest memory of both of my parents, and they were fighting!!!
2) At age 4, during a holiday to Toronto, my mother and I were huddled on a stairwell, with her whispering her drama to my innocent ears, in the cold, after she and her uncle had had an argument and a near physical confrontation.
3) New beginnings: When I was about 7, my mother came to my school and beat me harshly, in front of my peers because I did not go home immediately after school, a traumatic event.
4) At around age 8, she lied to me by telling me that I did not hear her and her friend (a bi- sexual woman) Mitsy having sex the night before in the bedroom next to me and Stacy’s bedroom, despite the fact that mummy and Errol were still a common law couple.
When I came to the U.K (My Teen Years and Adulthood):
5) At age 12, my mother would discuss me and seek advice from her stepmother-in-law, Lynette, despite the "bad blood" between my mom and my step - father's family.
6) From around 12, she began beating me regularly and reading my private journals and diaries, without my knowledge.
7) New beginnings: At age 12, she beat me in front of my only childhood friend outside school, Shevon, which was humiliating.
8) She told me she did not want me to visit her in hospital if she was ill—an emotionally painful statement I still carry.
9) At age 14, she falsely accused me of listening to pornographic telephone content, and she lied by telling me that my work colleague, Marcella, had rang her and told her tell me not to speak to her Marcella when I was at work.
10) At age 14, she falsely claimed my father Errol visited the UK but did not come to see me nor Stacy; later, Errol told me he has never ever been to the UK.
11) At age 14, mummy took a scissors at me to seemingly chop off my braid, one Sunday evening -- Valerie intervened and stopped her.
12) She accused me of pouring oil on her computer keyboard, which was actually done by my stepfather after they had had a fight the Sunday night before.
13) New beginnings: At 16, she falsely accused me of sleeping with my, then, boyfriend Rohan.
14) At age 16, she was beating Stacy unnecessarily, so I stepped in and she kicked me and 14 years old Stacy out of the house for a week, while I was waiting for my GCSE results and unsure how I was going to fend for me and Stacy.
15) At 18, she invaded my privacy by reading my girlfriend’s, hidden, private letters and later threatened to kill her.
