It’s a cold world…

After dark.

After dark, I hear my thoughts get louder,

Had some dreams, but the pain got prouder,

I was down, nobody came around,

Now I'm tryna turn my tears into a crown.

Mama told me, “Son, don't lose your heart,”

But this world had me cold from the start,

I been walking through the rain in the dark,

Tryna find my way home when I'm lost in my thoughts.

I had nights when I couldn't sleep,

Too much on my mind, too much I couldn't speak,

Everybody sees the smile, they don't see underneath,

I was fighting with myself just to make it through the week.

Had to learn that everybody ain't loyal,

Some disappear when your life gets spoiled,

I kept working while the pressure got heavier,

Now I'm building something they said I'd never get.

I don't want revenge, I just want peace,

I want my people good, I want my family free,

If I make it out, everybody eating with me,

I remember being broke, so success won't change me.
