I been sitting in my feelings too long

Talking to myself like something’s wrong

I tried to love you in the calm

But you only showed up when it wasn’t hard

I gave you peace, I gave you space

You still ran from what was safe

Said you loved me in your way

But your way kept hurting me

I don’t think you meant to break me

You just didn’t know how to stay

I held you gently, you let me go

I stayed through things you’ll never know

I made a home inside your arms

You never planned to make it ours

I was ready for the weight of love

You only carried what was light

So I let you leave with no more fights

Even though it broke me inside

I learned your silence like a language

Made excuses I shouldn’t have

I called it growth, I called it patience

But I was just scared to ask
