Fear Doesn't Live Here

I wake up at three in the morning and my heart is running ahead

Running through every worst-case scenario that lives inside my head

What if the job doesn't work out? What if the test comes back wrong?

What if I'm not enough for this? How much longer can I hold on?

My chest gets tight like a vice grip, my breathing shallow and fast

And every fear that I thought I conquered — they all come back twice as fast

But in the middle of the spiral, I hear something cut right through:

"I am with you — do not be afraid — I am holding on to you"

Fear doesn't live here anymore — I've given it an eviction notice

I've got the God of the universe standing at my door

He said "I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you"

By His righteous right hand — fear doesn't live here anymore

Fear — get out — fear doesn't live here

I know anxiety isn't something you just talk yourself out of

Some days the storm in your mind is real and the battle's in your blood

But I also know there's a peace that the world can't give and can't take

That comes when you call on the name that makes every stronghold shake

So I open my mouth in the middle of the panic and I pray

Not fancy words — just "Jesus, help me make it through today"

And something shifts in the atmosphere — I don't always know just how

But the fear that felt like forever gets small enough to bow

I've got the God of the universe standing at my door

I will not fear what man can do to me

I will not fear tomorrow's uncertainty

I will not fear the dark or what it hides

Because the God who made the light is on my side

He did not give me a spirit of fear

He gave me power, love, and a sound mind

So I cast down every thought that exalts itself

Against the knowledge of the God who is mine
