Sunrise comes, I’m already gone
Boots on the ground, another mile long.
Punch the fight through the grind
Trading time for a dollar and dime.
Through wind and rain, through dust and steel,
Working my hands turning the wheel.
But the nights are alone, I look to the sky,
Asking myself if I’m getting it right.
I keep moving on, no matter the cost,
Through all the years and the lines ive crossed.
The road gets long, the weight gets strong,
But I see their smiles, so I keep moving on.
The motel light hums like a song,
Wonder and worry tell me I’m wrong. My thoughts are my only friends but they like a knife,
Easing the pain but stealing my life.
I dream of a home, of laughter and love,
A boy in the yard, two girls growing up.
So I shake it off, with one more deep breath,
Another day’s work, all I got left.
I keep moving on, no matter the cost,
Through all the years and the lines Ive crossed.
The road gets long, the weight gets strong,
But I see their smiles, so I keep moving on.
Sunday morning, I roll back in,
Tired and worn, but I’m home again.
Little arms wrap tight ‘round my chest,
And for a moment, I know I’m blessed.
The doubts still come, the nights still drag,
The miles ahead won’t cut me slack.
But love’s the fire that keeps me strong,
So I hold my head high and keep moving on.
Yeah, I keep moving on…
For the life Ive built, for the love that’s strong.
The road gets long, the weight gets strong,
But I see their smiles, so I keep moving on.
