In the town of David, on a still, cold night

A star burned bright with a holy light

No room in the inn, no bed to lie

Just a manger low ‘neath the winter sky

The child in the straw, the King of all kings

Heaven bends low as the angels sing

Glory to God, peace on the earth

All of creation knows His worth

Shepherds in the field heard the midnight song

“Fear not,” said the angel, “for you’ve waited long

Go now and see, in the city of bread

The Savior is born, as the prophets said”
