If death sat beside me tonight, what would I say?
Would I ask for more time?
Would I wish I had prayed more, loved more, forgiven more, served more, and lived more faithfully for Christ?
Or would I be at peace, knowing that although I was never perfect, I sincerely tried to walk with my Lord?
This question is not meant to frighten me. It is meant to wake me up.
One day, every one of us will leave this earth. The houses we built, the money we saved, the clothes we wore, the followers we gained, and the things we were so proud of will remain behind.
But our soul will stand before God.
So, my brother and my sister in Christ, how are we living today?
Are we only Christians when we are inside the church building?
Are we praying with our lips while our hearts are far from God?
Are we holding grudges against people while asking God to forgive us?
Are we chasing the world so desperately that we are slowly losing our desire for heaven?
Let us remember the words of Jesus:
«“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?”»
— Matthew 16:26
We don't know how much time we have.
The person who says, “I'll repent tomorrow,” doesn't know whether tomorrow will come.
The person who says, “I'll forgive them someday,” doesn't know whether there will be another opportunity.
The person who says, “I'll become serious with God when I'm older,” doesn't know how many years God has given them.
So while we still have breath, let us live for Christ.
Let us forgive.
Let us love.
Let us serve.
Let us pray.
Let us study God's Word.
Let us encourage one another.
Let us turn away from sin instead of making peace with it.
Let us stop being ashamed of our faith.
And when we fall, let us get back up and keep walking with God.
Because heaven is worth more than anything this world can offer.
One day, death may sit beside each of us.
And when that moment comes, I don't want to look back and say:
“I wasted the life God gave me.”
I want to be able to say:
“Lord, I wasn't perfect, but I tried to remain faithful. I trusted You. I repented when I fell. I loved Your people. I kept fighting the good fight. And now, I'm ready to come home.”
My fellow Christians, let us not wait until death is standing beside us before we realize what truly matters.
We have today.
We have breath.
We have an opportunity to change.
We have an opportunity to serve God.
We have an opportunity to prepare our souls for eternity.
So let us live each day with heaven in our hearts and Christ at the center of our lives.
Because one day, this life will end.
But for those who remain faithful to the Lord, death is not the end.
It is the doorway to eternity.
May God help me.
May God help you.
May God help all of us remain faithful until the end.
“Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10
