I grew up with a heart full of hope,  
watching my father fall,  
An alcoholic, my hero, my all,  
But in his eyes, I saw the pain,  
A cycle spinning, like a runaway train.
Pulled me down, made it hard to cope.  
He was my hero, but the drink took his light,  

And I swore I’d never walk that line,  
But the darkness whispered, “Just one more time "
And I fell, lost in the climb.

A sickness that grips you, no place left to hide.  
I wanted to be normal, to feel the lifes embrace,  
But the chains of my addiction they won’t let me escape.  

I’m still an addict,  though I fight every day,  to not be in active addiction

I lost my children, my heart shattered 
They took them away, and I cried inside.  
Living in a broken building, no love to be found,  
Just echoes of memories, where hope used to sound.  
I numbed all the pain, thought I’d found a release,  
But the drugs only deepened my grief, not my peace.  
I wanted to be there, to hold them so tight,  
But addiction’s a thief, stealing dreams in the night.
