Piercing the Veil

Don’t look too long…

It starts to look back

Thin line in the dark, I could almost feel it tear

Something in the silence said don’t go there

But I leaned just a little, let my breath fall through

Now I see everything I wasn’t meant to

Every shadow has a name

Every whisper knows my face

I didn’t call it out loud

But it came anyway

I went and pierced the veil

Now it’s under my skin

Every truth I exhale

Pulls me deeper within

I don’t know where I end

Or where it begins

I touched something quiet

Now it won’t let me in

Light bends strange when you look too deep

Nothing stays where it’s supposed to be

Every answer comes wrapped in a lie

And I’m tracing shapes in between the lines

I can feel it in my chest

Like a rhythm out of time

Something breathing in the dark

Right behind my mind

Now it’s under my skin

Pulls me deeper within

I don’t know where I end

Or where it begins
