The key to the forest he can’t understand
Distant, weary traveler, he’s more than just a man
Come fly with me, come fly with me across this distant land
I’ll tell you his tale and I hope you understand
She whistles through his branches, wades through the sea
There, the ocean crashes, longing just to be
They swim for shore, they swim for shore, I fear it’s out of reach
They’re drowning in that cold, black water, screaming for the beach
There they find the Forest, but cannot see the sky
What used to be a desert, barren, vast, and dry
Now becomes the ocean, and caught in the tide
They can’t remember who they are, how it feels to be alive
Her hand is his oasis, her eyes his reprieve
Lonesome, lovely lady, lost as can be
They search for days, they search for years, but knew it all along
The forest never ends, it only weeps the same sad song
Now inside the forest, they reach to the clouds
There never was a desert, no sandy shores abound
Their life is the ocean, with waters black as night
She knows now who he is, but are you sure she got it right?
