We were like family, at least that’s what I believed,

Talking through the darkness, sharing every broken dream.

You knew all my weaknesses, every crack inside my walls,

Then somehow you learned exactly how to make me fall.

Whenever I was drowning, you were nowhere to be found,

But when your world was crashing, I was always sticking around.

I made excuses for your actions, tried to understand,

But sooner or later you realize love can’t come from just one hand.

And every time I tried to leave,

You pulled me back with words so sweet.

They sounded like salvation,

But dragged me deeper underneath.

You were poison in our veins,

But I was blind for far too long.

We tore each other into pieces,

Till there was nothing left to hold on.

And I don’t miss you,

I miss the person that you used to be.

Cause all that’s left between us now

Are scars you’ll never see.

You smiled while you were lying,

Like both were part of the same disguise.

You tore me down in front of others,

Then needed me when you cried.

I lost myself trying to fit

Inside the chaos that you made.

Ignored every warning sign

And watched my better judgment fade.

Now I’m driving through the night,

Reading messages you sent.

Wondering why I stayed so long,

When everything was already bent.

Maybe we were never friends,

Maybe I was just your escape.

As long as you needed someone,

You made sure I would stay.

But when I hit my lowest point,

There was nobody around.

That’s when I finally understood,

Some people only drag you down.

You were poison in our veins,

You took my trust and walked away.

But somewhere in the wreckage,

I found myself again today.

Why I’m not standing by your side,

It’s because I learned that friendship

Shouldn’t hurt just to survive.
