You came to us

many years ago

from a world we never

heard of before

throughout all the sadness

and all of the tears

you taught us all

to persevere

and someday

if we believe

and follow what you teach

if we let the love

into our hearts

we'll discover

the secret you keep

thank you for showing us

good from bad

thanks for loving us

though your time was short

and the ending was sad

you believed in us

in spite of those

who doubted you

Now more than two thousand years

have passed

and

we still desperately

need you.

You lit up the world

with amazing grace

forgave us for our ways

showed us a path

of divine light

from which we shouldn't stray

but the world that we built

with all good intentions

paved a path to hell

forgive us for are foolish pride

and misguided will

And now we fear

the end is near

we want you to return

too many

they come

in your name

some don't know

where to turn

We thank you for your patience

we praise you for your grace

please spread your light
