The Bible makes it abundantly clear: there is only one true God, revealed in the Godhead. From the Old Testament to the New, Scripture declares His supremacy over all creation.
In Deuteronomy 6:4, we hear the foundational declaration of faith for Israel:
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one."
This verse, known as the Shema, affirms that there is no other God besides Him. He alone is worthy of worship.
Isaiah 45:5-6 reinforces this truth as God Himself declares:
"I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me, there is no God."
Again and again, the prophets remind us that God alone is supreme. Malachi 2:10 asks:
"Do we not all have one Father? Did not one God create us?"
Moving to the New Testament, we find this truth upheld in the teachings of Jesus and the apostles. Mark 12:29-30 records Jesus affirming the Shema when asked about the greatest commandment:
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.'"
Paul, too, writes in 1 Corinthians 8:6:
"Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live."
And in Colossians 2:9, Paul speaks of Christ’s role in the Godhead:
"For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."
Further, in Ephesians 4:5-6, he declares:
"One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
James, the brother of Jesus, also affirms this in James 2:19:
"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."
From beginning to end, Scripture reveals the reality of the Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—working in unity. He is the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer of life. There is no other.
So let us worship Him with our whole hearts, knowing that the fullness of the Godhead is revealed in Christ and that He alone is worthy of our praise.
