My daddy escaped from prison for 9 long years. Put my momma through hell, and caused a lot of tears.
Three youngins later, hiding out in the mountains of Timberon New Mexico..... His luck finally ran out, back to North Carolina he was flown. Mama stood by his side and never left him. Times were hard while he was doing his time. She was a ride or die before ride or die was a term. They just don't make women like her any more. Mama was gentle in so many ways..... But would never think twice before making you catch that fade. They were like the modern day Bonnie and Clyde. Mama was always Daddy's ride or die. He was extradited back to Newport penitentiary. Only did 9 months after doing that escape. It would never happen like that nowadays. They'd of thrown a book at his ass for the rest of his days. Mom and Daddy were cut from different clothes. Came from the mud, I'm talking dirt floor poor. He finally straightened out his life and made something out of himself. Daddy was a drinker and raised lots of cain.... Ohh les the rebel with that rebel yell. He was an old moonshiner from the Appalachian mountains. That rebellious spirit is still in our DNA. It's something that'll never be bred out or MRNA. Ohhhhh daddy's name was Les rebel, friends called him Red, he had a heart of gold but wouldn't think twice to put you six feet in dirt for disrespect. Yeah Daddy raised a lot of cane, a good man he always was,but a better man is what he became before it was all said and done. The greatest man I've ever known. Did lots of dumb shit but it was just his way. Ain't no other man alive, half the man he was. Towards the end of his life he really turned things around. I'm his youngest son,and say that very proud.
Now I'm a grown man myself with 5 kids of my own. Trying to break generational curses and bury generational trauma. Trying to raise five kids the opposite of how I was raised. But there's some things you can't breed out of this DNA. Some things that will never be bred out of this MRNA. Never forget where you come from, always hold your head up high. Shoot for the stars and believe in your dreams. Is what I tell my kids, They'd never believe half of the shit I saw in my younger days. Yet, I don't blame mom and daddy for the things they did, or for the things I saw as a kid. They did the best they knew how to do considering how they were raised. We never went to bed hungry and never wanted for anything. 35 elementary Schools before I hit 3rd grade. Daddy taught me how to drop bullies three times my size, and that's something you can't breed out of this DNA ..... Some things you won't breed out of this MRNA. I guess we all got a little bit of Les the rebel in us! Just a lot more in this bloodline and I say that with a shit ton of pride....... Rebel yell!!!
