Prompt / Lyrics
Verse 1 I used to see my life as a list of missing things, counting every closed door like a curse that had no end. Thought the universe was silent every time I felt alone, couldn’t see that in the breaking it was leading me back home. Verse 2 I chased numbers, chased approval, tried to outrun all my fear, measured worth in cars and status, not in who was standing near. But the more I lost “out there,” the more I started to find in, there’s a different kind of riches when you finally let life in. Pre-Chorus Now the same old streets look different, same sky but a different light. I was staring at the shadows, never noticed all the signs. Chorus It’s all perspective, how you choose to see the storm, is it here to break you down or is it here to make you more? When the plans fall through and nothing goes the way you drew, you can call it all destruction or you can call it being new. I was sure my life was over when those chapters fell apart, now I know it was the doorway to remembering my heart. Verse 3 Now the setbacks are my teachers and the tears water the ground, every “no” that used to crush me is a seed that’s coming out. I don’t need to have the answers to be standing in my truth, I just need a little faith to see what all this pain can do. Pre-Chorus Same road, but I walk it different, same weight, but I hold it light. I stopped asking “Why me, why this?” and started asking “What’s the sight?” Chorus It’s all perspective, how you talk about your scars, are they proof that you were ruined or that you’ve survived so far? When the night feels never-ending and you’re tired of being strong, you can say that you’re forgotten or you can say you still belong. Now I see that every detour was a hand upon my back, pushing me toward my purpose when I thought my life was lack. Bridge So if you’re standing in the ruins of the life you thought you’d live, take a breath and look again at all the gifts that didn’t leave. There is love you didn’t notice, there is strength you never knew, there is something being born here that the old you couldn’t do. Final Chorus It’s all perspective, how you read your story line, you can circle every failure or see grace between the lines. When you feel like you’re forgotten and you’re breaking in two, you can say that you are finished or that life is breaking through. I was certain I was falling, but I landed in my soul, now I’m walking with new eyes and a resurrected role. Outro Same world, new eyes, same road, new why— maybe nothing really changed but the way I see my life.
