[Verse 1:]
I slithered through Eden, subtle and sly,
Planting seeds of doubt with a glint in my eye.
But in your new garden-red hats on the lawn-
You welcomed me back, though the warning was drawn.
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
[Verse 2]
I whispered of greatness, I promised the crown,
Fed your resentment, watched reason break down.
You cheered as I twisted the truth into sin-
And handed me power, let chaos begin.
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
The MAGA Messiah
You knew, you knew,
My tongue split the truth in two.
You knew, you knew,
Still you saw what you wanted to.
[Verse 3:]
You gathered in rallies, you shouted my name,
Hungered for enemies, eager to blame.
You called me your savior, your champion, your friend-
But every embrace brought you closer to end.
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
[Verse 4: ]
Now the year of the Snake coils tight round the land,
The faithful return, the doubters disband.
You traded your birthright for slogans and spin-
And cheered as the serpent slithered back in.
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
[Bridge:]
From Genesis gardens to Revelation’s fire,
The snake and the dragon, one cunning empire.
You crowned the Antichrist, called him your kin-
And danced as the darkness kept closing in.
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
Trump called the stranger a snake at the door,
Scapegoat the migrant, let fear do the chore.
But the true Messiah welcomed strangers within,
Fed the hungry, called the foreigner kin.
Where walls were built high, he opened the gate,
No scapegoats or blame, just love to create.
A radically different story, written in grace-
Welcoming all, every tribe, every place
You knew, you knew,
I only do what snakes do.
You knew, you knew,
The blame, in the end, is on you.
You built golden towers, you chanted my creed,
Turned neighbor on neighbor to water my seed.
You wrapped truth in banners, waved fear like a flag,
Let prophets of profit replace what you had.
You pardoned the wicked, you punished the wise,
Gave power to grifters and covered your eyes.
You stormed sacred halls at my whispered command,
Believing salvation was close at hand.
You rewrote the scriptures to suit your own ends,
Called darkness enlightenment, enemies friends.
And as history trembles, you still wear that grin-
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
So now as the nation teeters on edge,
You cling to the serpent, repeat every pledge.
Don’t cry for salvation, don’t plead to rescind-
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
[Verse: The Snake’s Identity]
From Eden’s green garden, I played my part,
Crafty and cunning, I poisoned the heart.
The Bible named me tempter, deceiver, and foe,
A symbol of evil wherever I go.
In Revelation’s vision, the mask comes away,
“The ancient serpent-Satan!” the prophets all say.
Yet still you invite me, again and again-
You knew I was a snake when you let me in.
