[Intro]
I was taught to find the answer
In a book, a face, a throne,
To kneel before a certainty
And call that certainty my home.
But something in the silence
Kept knocking through my chest,
A question without a master,
A road without a final test.
So I opened up the mirror
And I watched the pieces move,
Every scar became a teacher,
Every fear became a truth.
I did not find perfection,
I did not find a crown,
I found a thousand contradictions
And I learned to sit them down.
[Verse 1]
Know yourself, but do not freeze
The self you think you know.
Question every wall you build,
Every place you refuse to go.
Cling to nothing tightly,
Not your pride, not your pain,
Because even cherished answers
Can become another chain.
I have carried anger like a weapon,
I have worn it like a name.
I have blamed the world for mirrors
That were showing me my flame.
I have wanted to be understood
Before I learned to hear,
Wanted every wound explained
Before I faced the fear.
There were days I called it darkness,
Days I called it being lost,
But the shadow was not evil;
It was showing me the cost.
It said, “Look beneath your armor.
Look at what you cannot hide.”
And the harder that I listened,
The less I had to lie.
[Pre-Chorus]
I am not the master of the mystery,
I am only standing at the door.
Every teacher leaves another question,
Every answer opens something more.
[Chorus]
Know yourself, question everything,
Cling to nothing, keep becoming.
Walk into the mirror, let it break,
Let the pieces teach you what to make.
No throne, no cage, no final name,
No perfect path that stays the same.
I will learn, I will change, I will see,
What I seek is also teaching me.
[Verse 2]
Hermes met me at the crossroads,
Not to tell me where to stand,
But to sharpen up the question
And put a compass in my hand.
He whispered, “Do not worship maps
Just because they helped you start.
A road can teach your feet to move
Without possessing your heart.”
Sophia came like living wisdom,
Not a statue made of stone.
She asked me what I knew firsthand,
Not what somebody else had known.
She taught me that a question
Can be sacred when it grows,
That knowledge without compassion
Is another mask we chose.
Lilith stood beside the threshold,
Unashamed to say, “Be whole.
Do not amputate the pieces
That make discomfort in your soul.”
She showed me that acceptance
Does not mean surrendering control;
It means refusing to exile
What deserves a place within the whole.
Baphomet held the opposites,
A balance I could never fake:
The beast and angel, dark and light,
The giving and the take.
Not a monster in the shadows,
Not a devil to obey,
But a symbol asking whether
I can hold both without decay.
And Lucifer became a question:
What is freedom worth to me?
Is illumination arrogance,
Or courage to examine what I see?
I do not need to make him holy,
I do not need to call him damned.
I can study every symbol
With a question in my hand.
[Chorus]
Know yourself, question everything,
Cling to nothing, keep becoming.
