Fights not chosen

Steel door slams… silence in the air…

The pit waits below — and no one cares.

I heard the music fade when the cell door slammed,

Knew in that moment I had to be a man.

No choice, no voice, can’t flip the page,

The weight of the world locked me in a cage.

Great scale of it all was out of my range,

So I swallowed the fire and embraced the change.

Situation forced, control ripped away,

But my soul grew sharp in the blackest of days.

In the pit I bled, in the pit I rose,

Face to face with the demons I chose.

Lost my home but I gained my war,

I’m a warrior now — I fear no more.

Walked in the pit with the shadows around,

Every scream, every ghost tried to drag me down.

But I stood alone, eyes burning flame,

For all that I love I’ll endure the pain.

Demons came close with their claws and lies,

But I fought through the dark till the terror died.

In the horror I found what the weak can’t see,

The warrior’s fire was born in me.

In the pit I bled, in the pit I rose,

Face to face with the demons I chose.

Lost my home but I gained my war,

I’m a warrior now — I fear no more.

Horror in the cage, but I walked away stronger…

A prisoner once… a warrior forever.
