I grew up around Ravens and Crows

Where pines mixed With birch and burr oak

Where tea colored water met a light tan sand

Watch it ripple and flow over my hands

A one mile stretch of the six mile creek

Was my whole world, it’s where I found my feet

Naps in the grass on the waters edge

While the leaves and branches danced overhead

Grandma say, “Take the rifle and the dog,

Be back before dark “

In my own piece of heaven, out from under my shell
