Prompt / Lyrics
What happened to the time. When kids would play outside. And looked at things farther than five inches from there face. When they wanted to learn About the world and how stuff worked. Now it seems like they learn too much about everything else. Some of my best memories Are ones that I can’t show. Because we didn’t carry cameras We didn’t have a way to post. And thank God we didn’t. Because half of us would be… in jail. So I’ll raise a glass and think of, All the money we saved on bail. Seems like they have to compete With lives of those they see on that screen. Seeing all the latest fashion Comparing what cars people drive. Looks like they get judged by the money they don’t have. And man that’s just wild. Some of my best memories Are ones that I can’t show. Because we didn’t carry cameras We didn’t have a way to post. And thank God we didn’t. Because half of us would be… in jail. So I’ll raise a glass and think of, All the money we saved on bail. We didn’t have all that when we were young And to tell the truth I’m real glad. Because growing up was easier back When we had what we had You couldn’t pay me now to go back And have all that they do With the world all in their pockets Learnin young what we didn’t have to. And man all these cameras every where Some of my best memories Are ones that I can’t show. Because we didn’t carry cameras We didn’t have a way to post. And thank God we didn’t. Because half of us would be… in jail. So I’ll raise a glass and think off All the money we saved on bail.
