The Unknown Feeling

I don't really know why, I reach for the bottle at night

Is it joy or pain I hide? Or just to feel alive

My world spins in colors so bright, my wife, my family in sight

Life’s a beautiful ride, yet something inside

Tells me to sip and see, what’s the mystery?

A feeling I can't define, that’s the ride of my mind

Is it the laughter or tears, that I chase in my fears?

A strange kind of relief, a brief moment of peace

Maybe I feel good, maybe I feel sad

My heart’s in a whirl and I don’t understand

Life’s a wonder, a gift, so grand

But when I drink, I just don’t know how I stand

It’s not wrong, it’s not right, just a shadow in the light

A whisper I can’t explain, a quiet, fleeting gain

Could be love or just a game, wearing happiness like a frame

In the end, I just ask, where do I go from here?

My life’s a shining star, with my loved ones near

And though I don't know why, I’ll hold them so high

In my heart, I’ll keep the why, as the night drifts by
