The Monster Within

Whispers in the dark, shadows in my mind

A beast beneath the skin, trying to unwind

Refusing to give in, I stand my ground

Fighting what lurks, deep down inside my soul

There’s a silent roar, beneath my calm facade

A monster in the mirror, fighting for control

It wants to break the chains, to unleash its hate

But I hold the line, I won’t succumb to fate

Feel the heat rise, voices clash and collide

One side saying give in, the other fight

I won’t let it take me, won’t let it fly

Standing tall, while the darkness tries

I’ve got the monster within but I refuse to fall

Locked in a battle I know all too well

Breaking free’s the dream, but I won’t heed the call

This fight is mine; I’ve got to rebel

It’s a constant war, a shadow in my mind

Every scar and scar, a story of my fight
