A Path And A Field (That’s All We Need)

Out here where the tall grass sways,
Two little boys make the most of their days.
One’s got drive, got his eyes on the prize,
The other’s got wisdom way beyond his size.
They’re throwin’ that ball in the old back field,
Barefoot hearts that never need to be healed.
Doesn’t take much, just a place to roam,
A path and a field, that’s home.


We got all we want, what we need, and love,
Underneath these skies we’re dreaming of.
Where the deer and the turkeys and the rabbits all run,
We’re countin’ our blessings one by one.
God, Country, Family, Friends —
That’s the love that never ends.
Yeah, life’s as good as it can be,
With my bride and boys right here with me.



My baby’s got that one-of-a-kind smile,
Turns every hard road into something worthwhile.
She lifts us up, she lights the way,
Makes the whole world brighter every day.
When the boys sports  come rollin’ around,
Nana and Papa come on down.
We break that bread, we laugh and pray,
That’s our kind of holiday.
